The Osaka Mint Bureau (造幣局 Zōheikyoku) is the only Western-style brick building remaining from the Meiji era on the premises of the Japan Mint. Originally constructed as a thermal power plant in 1969, the building was refurbished into the Mint Museum, with the facade left in its original state to preserve this historical building and establish a facility for introducing the Japan Mint's activities to the public.
